About the Project

The project will integrate research, teaching, exhibition, visitable archives, permanent and temporary exhibition halls, collaborative research spaces, a bookstore, and a cafeteria. Conceived as a vibrant space open to students, academics, researchers, schoolchildren, families, artists, and visitors, it will provide access to collections usually beyond public reach and strengthen practical training in conservation, restoration, and cultural mediation.

Project Pillars

Cultural Access

The project opens collections and archives to diverse audiences, generating accessible learning and cultural mediation experiences.

Practical Training

ARCA UC links teaching, conservation, restoration, research, and exhibition in a high-standard training environment.

Research and Heritage

The project enables spaces to study, preserve, and activate collections, connecting heritage, knowledge, and contemporary creation.

Open Campus

Campus Oriente is envisioned as a vibrant cultural hub, connected with students, artists, schoolchildren, families, and the wider community.

Why Does It Transform Chile?

  • It expands public access to infrastructure with collections, archives, and high-value educational cultural experiences.
  • It strengthens practical training in conservation, restoration, research, and cultural mediation.
  • It projects Campus Oriente as an open space for culture, learning, and encounter for Chile.

Who Benefits

UC students, academics, researchers, schoolchildren, families, artists, visitors, cultural communities, and the general public. It benefits those who access the ARCA UC space, in addition to strengthening the country’s cultural, heritage, and educational ecosystem.
