About the project

UC Theater seeks renovation and expansion to establish itself as a national cultural landmark, with improved technical conditions, increased capacity, and a more diverse programming agenda. This renovation also integrates spaces for students, consolidating a building that articulates consulting, continuing education, knowledge transfer, and external engagement.

Beyond infrastructure, UC Theater aims to transform into a space that empowers students to create, train, and culturally project themselves, moving from being a place where they only attend as an audience to becoming a space where they also rehearse, produce, and present their own work, thus generating a direct formative impact on individuals.

Project Pillars

Renovation and Expansion of UC Theater

To establish it as a national cultural landmark, with increased audience capacity, improved technical conditions, and more diverse programming.

National Cultural Landmark Programming

Diversification and strengthening of external/institutional programming, consolidating UC Theater as a cultural platform with public outreach throughout Chile.

Student Creation and Training Platform

Designed for student groups and collectives to produce, rehearse, and present their own work as part of the renovated Theater's identity.

Why does it transform Chile?

  • It transforms into a national cultural landmark, improving capacity, equipment, and safety to exploit its maximum potential.
  • It democratizes access to culture, with more diversified programming that connects the University with society.
  • It impacts student development, enabling transformative experiences in students' lives.

Who benefits

Undergraduate and postgraduate students, student groups and collectives who produce, rehearse, and present their own work, the artistic and cultural sector, and the Chilean public and society who can access more diverse programming.
